Are you a mission-driven leader with the passion and experience to shape safer communities across New Mexico? Safer NM is searching for a dynamic, visionary Chief Executive Officer to guide our long-standing nonprofit organization into its next era of impact.
For decades, Safer NM has partnered closely with state agencies, law enforcement, healthcare, advocates, and community leaders to reduce traffic-related death and injury. We believe meaningful change happens through education, prevention, enforcement, and engineering —and we’re looking for a leader who shares that commitment.

The CEO is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and strategic management of Safer NM. This role oversees program development, personnel management, fiscal oversight, and community engagement. Success in this position requires strong political acumen and the ability to collaborate with government entities, the legislature, and partners across tribal, local, state, and national levels.
Key Responsibilities Include:
· Directing, planning, and organizing programs and staff
· Cultivating strategic partnerships with law enforcement, government agencies, and community stakeholders
· Leading grant acquisition, contract administration, fundraising, and budget development
· Ensuring compliance, accurate reporting, and responsible fiscal management
· Representing Safer NM in statewide and national initiatives focused on transportation safety
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred
· Seven years of successful experience at Director level or above leading a nonprofit or comparable organization
· Five years of experience managing government contracts and grants at the state and federal level
· Demonstrated expertise in grant writing, fundraising, budgeting, and financial oversight
· Experience building and maintaining relationships with law enforcement partners
· Current or former New Mexico residency preferred
· Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background investigation
If you're a strategic, relationship-focused leader who thrives on making a measurable difference in the lives of families and communities, we encourage you to apply.
