Histology Technician Job Description: The Histology Technician is responsible for obtaining and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination. This includes grossing, fixation, cutting, mounting, and staining tissue samples for dermatopathologist review. + Accession, receive, and prepare tissue specimens. + Perform grossing and inking (if qualified). + Prepare media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions. + Process tissue: embedding, microtomy, staining, cryostat use, and freezing. + Label and prepare slides; perform quality control. + Examine slides under a microscope to detect abnormalities. + Maintain instruments, equipment, and work areas. + Log, file, track, and store specimens and slides. + Maintain lab supply inventory and documentation (QA/QC logs). + Adhere to compliance and training requirements. Job Qualification/Requirements: + Associates degree required + HT or HTL ASCP certification OR eligible by ASCP standers to obtain certification + 2 years of experience preferred Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pleasant Prairie, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
