Responsibilities
- Review medical records and assign ICD and CPT codes
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with guidelines
- Abstract clinical information from documentation
- Query physicians for clarification when needed
- Stay current with coding updates and changes
- Meet productivity and accuracy standards
- Participate in coding audits and education
- Communicate with billing staff on coding issues
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
Requirements
- High school diploma required, associate degree preferred
- CPC or CCS certification strongly preferred
- 2-4 years of medical coding experience
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Understanding of medical terminology and anatomy
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with coding software and encoders
- Self motivated to work independently from home
- Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace
