STATE PARK INTERPRETER I (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – SANTA CRUZ DISTRICT / PAJARO COAST SECTOR / SEACLIFF STATE BEACH
The reporting location for this position is Seacliff State Beach in Aptos, CA. This position will work under the supervision of State Park Interpreter III.
The State Park Interpreter I is responsible for duties related to the interpretive needs of Seacliff State Beach and The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park include, providing interpretation and education programs that will advance the mission of the Department by providing greater access for K-12 education students and teachers through innovative virtual and in-person program opportunities and resources. This position will become part of a statewide network of park staff working toward the common goal of creating relevant, equitable access to California State Parks for all of California's youth. This position will also coordinate the field trip volunteer program at Seacliff State Beach and The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Occasional travel may be required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.
This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered.

This position works in both the field and office environments determined by district needs. Utilizes daily and frequent use of computer/tablet and able to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Stand during events and programs for extended periods of time. Work in a range of climatic environments/uneven terrain, including coastal beaches, trails, and forests. Field work environment may create exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme weather temperatures, conditions, elevations, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Lift up to 45 lbs. Willingness to travel throughout the district, and work weekends and holidays, is essential to this position.
